A rather long day with not many pictures. Itinerary of the day:
- Yongduam Rock - Dragon Head Rock
- Flight to Gimpo - Seoul
- Travel on the bus for a couple of hours to Everland~~
- Collecting ski equip on the way to hotel.
- Check in to Phoenix park
that's... mummy & daddy's room~ the bed looks kinda small in this picture, but its actually a queen sized bed.
similar to what we had the night before... some porridge with clams...
everyone was looking for coffee... so i became the coffee girl~ the coffee from the dispenser outside only costs like 20cents per cup... but its only half of the pink cup (below) so i stood there in the cold -_- (but enjoying it! haha) putting in 20 cents, combining 2 cups into 1 so i can bring more in... i think i bought 8 cups (into 4) in total... going in and out of the restaurant... lol. and i am not the one drinking the coffee.... o.O
kimchi without fail... i enjoyed the porridge and the bread though... the egg was so so... not such fan of sunny-side up egg or cooked egg yolks these days.... only like my half-boiled eggs and steamed egg tofu and egg in the "ban mian" soup....
Next to the Dragon Head Rock (a lava formation of a dragon head jutting out from the sea)
mummy & me! can u see the dragon head rock behind us? (i personally think its bad luck for that hotel... that's the building located at the dragon's mouth if you can see it)
And we're off to the Jeju airport. i remember before we left for korea, i checked the weather forecast using daddy's iphone. and it showed "snow" for today's weather... which is a Wednesday... but becos the temperature suddenly went up, our snow became rain... :( its almost like an indication that we won't be able to see snow this trip... stupid 暖流 and so.. when we arrived back in Seoul, it was raining..... and over a couple of days, the temperature went down down down again, and then it became too cold... charlie said it won't snow it its too cold...
had problem loading the luggage into the bus in Seoul... nice driver, but the lugguge compartment is too small... you can only put the lugguge in the same way everytime else it won't fit. big headache for the driver and the guy (from korea tourism board) following our bus.
we were told to buy some food from the supermarket before we set off this morning as it's going to be a long journey from the Gimpo airport (airport for domestic flights) to Everland. we got ourselves some snacks and drinks. BUT, i left my strawberry milk and daddy's coffee in the fridge and forgot to take it out this morning. :( should have just left it on the table... bleah... LUCKILY.... when we arrive at Gimpo airport, mummy went to the convinience shop there and bought me the same strawberry milk + daddy's canned coffee! and i was wondering where she went when we were collecting our luggage and walking to the bus. :D
ready to sleep already...
Charlie has a lot of stories... very knowlegeble... but quite "lor soh"... nice to hear... but not when u're sleepy... becos i wan to listen... but i'm tired and i just want to look outside the window and enjoy the long trip there.... spent about 1 hour listening to his stories on the bus. the journey took about 3 hours (if i'm not wrong). then they started playing "Jewel in the palace" (大长今) on the bus... summarized version - it ended on the last day of our trip. o.O so smart right. how come i didn't know DVDs have this kind of function...
approaching Yong In Everland!! it is said to be the largest theme park, dubbed as "The Disneyland of Korea". they have this safari inside which has the legendary "liger" (crossbreed between the tiger and lion)
we were waiting for the rest of the tour group cos we were suppose to take a group photo... and as usual... mummy already walk so far... (didn't scan the group photo to upload... sho ma huan u know.... :)
Charlie said he'd bring us to the safari first. then he'll let us walk around on our own... and so... we went to take the "cable car" to the safari place. Everland is really BIG!
they show the numbers of each animals in the safari world today... u mean the numbers change everyday? o.O work schedule ah? lol
that's the male & female liger! they are HUGE! apparently, it wasn't a good idea for them to mate to have pure breed ligers... i forgot why... let me google... i think its just not easy... or their offsprings have defects... something to do with their genes and chromosomes.. check out the fertility part of this link
shall not go into this part... although i enjoyed the safari drive-thru *guilty* its not that good for the animals isn't it.... giving them treats to perform tricks... :(
taken while waiting for the roller coaster... its a loooooooooong queue.... i went with the tour leader - Elly and my cousin. daddy, mummy, xiao yee & uncle davide went to look for the 炸酱面 (loosely translated as "mixed sauce noodle") recommended by charlie. he said it is nice. and it really is!! we went to look for them after the ride... which took almost 1hr plus to queue. sadly, that was the only ride i took. although interested... but it wasn't a must to go on the rides anyway~ by the time we reached the restaurant, daddy and the rest had already finished their 炸酱面 and went off to walk around.... left the 3 of us to quickly finish our dinner and to catch up with them...
elly & me with the xmas deco~ elly likes taking pictures... she always asks us to help her take pictures... take picture alone nice meh?
daddy came to steal my camera to take pictures of mummy and the pretty deco~ that's why i only took 1 picture of my dinner...
it got even colder as it got darker.... the reindeer hat really works! keeps all the right places warm... (my ears!)
the parade was cancelled. i think it was because of the rain. but we missed the whole fireworks!! :( we were already near the entrance and there was totally no way to see the fireworks... ok la, we caught a bit of it... but it wasn't fantastic... very very low only... nothing can beat the one we saw at vivo city!!! i think that was the 1st anniversary of the opening of vivo city and the fireworks just "exploded" right in front of our face (i was there for dinner with my parents and some guests)! sho pwetty... must be the prettiest i've ever seen!
charlie came over and... "你们在拍什么?". we pulled him over to take a picture with us! and the tree... -_-
Today's meals was all at weird timings... -_- breakfast porridge ok... 炸酱面 was at 5 plus... then just 3 or 4 hours later we had dinner... tonight's dinner is.... authentic KOREAN BBQ!!!!! the kind u see on korean shows... bbq the meat... wrap with the vege, put some sauce and beansprouts, then stuff the whole thing in your mouth! u must have a very big mouth.... but its very satisfying!!
and the meat!!! despite the chao ta ones... it is very nice!!! duno what they use to season the meat... so far all the meat we've eaten is very nice!!! i also realized they eat more pork than any other kinds of meat... this was one of the highlight of the trip!
another 2 hours of journey to collect our ski clothes, goggles and cap~ more stories on the bus, a nap (although didn't do much... but tiring!)
goggles/gloves for rent/sale and caps for saleS~ daddy bought quite a stylo cap... which he used for less than1 hour -_- i didn't buy any cos i had my purple hat :D ski pictures will be in the next day post!
sho many...
we were asked to get down the bus without our jackets... cos we had to try on the ski jacket and pants. also, we could wear our ski jacket when we go back up the bus... dun need to carry so many things... it was freezing!!! almost 11pm at night, minus zero degrees, with only 1 layer of clothing! we were all running in to the ski equip place. but the ski place was also cold! no warmer!! it only felt warmer after we wore our ski jacket for a while...
Next to check in Phoenix Park hotel! filming site of "秋天的童话". that was my first korean drama! i remember seeing the trailer on tv, kind of typical korean drama series... bro and sis separated cos sister and another girl was exchanged when they were still babies in the hospital, grows up, bro and sis meets again, falls in love, unable to be together cos of peer pressure, girl sis gets leukemia, they get together again, blah blah blah. but at that time.. it was nice! :x
the 3 main actors/actress of the show...
after we got our room keys, we brought our luggage up and went to our favourite place for every hotel - the supermarket!!! the supermarket was in another building. but even though we all had our winter jackets, the wind was blowing - cold enough to freeze your face, puddles on the water became ice, so it was slippery. that must be one of the coldest nights. phoenix park was quite up the mountains, and although it was already quite dark, i could see the ski mountains from our hotel rooms! sho pretty~ looking forward to tmr's skiing experience!
the building where the supermarket is. although just a 3 mins walk... FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!
supermarkets are my favourite! :D we bought some aloe vera juice and banana milk (korea supermarkets' speciality!). i like the aloe vera juice. i think its quite good for the throat since its winter and its very drying... i think we only bought drinks... and headed back to the hotel to rest after a loooooong day. must rest up to get ready for tmr's skiing! yay!!!
